FORD "FMX" TRANSMISSION OIL FILTER SERVICE KIT - FIBER PAN GASKET - 1968 - 1981 MAKE FORD , LINCOLN , MERCURY MODEL FMX YEARS 1968 - 1981 DETAILS THIS IS A NEW TRANSMISSION FILTER SERVICE KIT. THIS ITEM COMES WITH A NEW DACRON FILTER AND A FARPAK (FIBER) PAN GASKET. FITS 1968 - 1981, FMX ONLY This kit DOES NOT FIT: "Small Case" Cruise O Matic (1951 - 1967) "Medium Case" Cruise O Matic (1955 - 1968) "Large Case" Cruise O Matic (1958 - 1965) The FMX transmission is identified by it's cast iron main case with aluminum bolt on bell housing and extension housing (not to be confused with the earlier model Cruise-O-Matic transmissions), unlike later model three-speed automatics whose main case is aluminum. The FMX transmission had a cast iron main case 9 7/8" long (not to be confused with the Small Case Cruise-O-Matic) and can be identified by the following: ***If your transmission has a cast iron case and the dipstick tube is screwed into the side of the pan, your transmission is NOT an FMX. ***If your transmission has a cast iron case and the dipstick tube is inserted directly into the case, your transmission is an FMX.
